The Travelife Sustainability System is a global sustainable tourism recognition and marketing scheme. The system is a web based resource providing all accommodation suppliers with direct access to help, advice and tools to improve their sustainability performance. The system shows you how to reduce costs whilst at the same time improving your corporate social responsibility profile.

You can use the Travelife Sustainability System to record your sustainability performance by completing the free self-assessment covering Environment and People. The system will generate recommended improvements based on your score. The Supplier Sustainability Handbook, free of charge, can be downloaded from the website to help you improve your performance. Top performers are rewarded with a Bronze, Silver or Gold Travelife Award.

The Travelife Awards provide an excellent marketing opportunity. We will feature award winners in future brochures, on websites and / or in other marketing materials to promote the sustainability achievements of our contracted partners directly to our customers.

The Supplier Sustainability Handbook, the registration and use of the Travelife website for self-assessment, including feedback with suggested actions for improvement are free of charge.

A subscription is required if you wish to use the Travelife system to communicate your sustainability performance using the Travelife name and logo. Subscriptions are for a period of two years and include the cost of a verified audit. An auditor will visit your business to verify your performance.

The cost of the subscription is based upon the size and location of your business. It costs between € 250 - € 750 per two years. If your business is part of a hotel chain, you can contact Travelife directly to enquire about group discounts.

Future steps: After you have filled in the self-assessment, the Travelife Sustainability System produces a sustainability score for your business. It also shows you which sustainability improvements you can make. Once you are happy with your performance, you can subscribe and receive a verified audit. Businesses who achieve an award receive the following benefits:

• A Travelife Award plaque for display on the business premises
• Automatic licence to use the Travelife name, award and logo, as an aid to marketing and promoting your business for the duration of the award or subscription period.
• Participating tour operators can automatically reflect the award status with a logo in their brochures, on websites and in other marketing materials.
• Entry to the Travelife Online and Retail Sustainable Business Directory (from 2009).
